PROJECT OVERVIEW
Having successfully completed Phase One of the UCD Science Centre in 2011, Sheelin Group Commercial Interiors was invited to tender for Phase Two, the loose furniture package, in 2012. After a competitive process, we were delighted to be appointed as the main supplier for this prestigious project. Our remit included furnishings for all training rooms, meeting rooms, the canteen, collaboration and breakout areas, as well as storage throughout. With so many different area types and sizes included in the mix, this project is a true example of us doing what we do best - offering "solutions for every space".
THE CHALLENGE
The €300 million Science Centre represents the largest single investment in science in the history of the state. The sheer scale of the project presented some unique and inherent challenges, namely the huge area involved, the building's BREEAM rating and many different phases to be completed over an 18-month period. Our team loves nothing more than a challenge, however, so we embraced the prospect of not only meeting, but exceeding, the challenges that came with this project.
THE RESULT
Our aim is to be partners not providers, and our trusted, long-term partnership with UCD shows our success in this area. Our relationship has developed over a period of more than 20 years and continues to grow today, with the completion of projects in other campus areas including Health Sciences, UCD School of Business and the new developments of Blocks D and E in Smurfit Graduate School. Our dedication to robust aftersales is a key part of our customer-centric approach and this has further strengthened our relationship with this client, along with many others.

THE SHEELIN SOLUTION
Every single step and every single detail matters in a complex project like this. We established a dedicated Project Team to coordinate the supply, delivery and installation of all products, ensuring that The Whole Experience was impeccably managed. Over the 18-month period, our team worked tirelessly in collaboration with both the client and design team to ensure the seamless coordination of all project elements.
At Sheelin Group Commercial Interiors, we are highly experienced in complex sourcing and supplying, and this project is proof of that. This multi-usage development involved the procurement of product lines of all types and styles from over 25 different international suppliers; all supplied and delivered over four phases as set out by the project schedule.
Products were rigorously investigated and selected for their environmental credentials as their durability, which is crucial for such a flexible working space. As is part of the Sheelin ethos, recycling and waste removal were also and absolute priority for us in this project.
Detailed installation drawings were produced to ensure that the installation process was seamless throughout. The scheduling was also seamless, with all fitout phases delivered on time and to the full satisfactionof the client.
